PERSONAL INFORMATION CONTROLLER

Weenja Technologies Limited, a company registered in Uganda located at Sserwanga Musoke Rd, Kira is the controller of your personal information.

TYPES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Voluntarily Provided Information:

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, such as your email address. We also automatically collect information, such as your IP address.

 

2.2 Information Provided by You:

When you register for and/or use the services, we may request you to provide information about yourself. This may include your first name, phone number, and email address (referred to collectively as “Required Information”). Additional information, like your last name, address details, working hours, and access to photos and albums, may also be necessary. Providing the Required Information is essential to use our services. However, certain functionalities may be limited if you choose not to provide this information (for example, without registering an account, you may be unable to engage in chat conversations with other users, publish advertisements, or view contact details of other users). In some cases, when contacting our Support Team, you may need to provide additional information to fulfill your request (for instance, confirming your identity with an identification document if your account was previously blocked).

Important Note 1:

Weenja: Buy and Sell in Uganda collects your contact list information to facilitate communication between buyers and sellers when initiating a chat with another user about a product listing. You can choose to deny access to your contact list, but this may limit your ability to chat with other users.

Important Note 2:

We may collect image information from you in the following ways:

  • You may upload images to your profile or product listings within the Weenja app.
  • We may access your device’s storage to allow you to select images for upload (with your permission).

The images you upload may contain metadata, such as the date and time the picture was taken, or location information (if enabled on your device).

We use the images you provide to [e.g., display your profile picture, showcase products you sell]. We store the images on our secure servers.

We will not share your images with any third parties without your consent.

You have the right to access, edit, and delete the images you upload within the app. We will retain your images for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. We will delete your images upon request or account deletion, unless required for legal reasons.

 

2.3 By providing information about yourself during the registration process, you acknowledge and understand that this information will be publicly accessible, including your phone number. Please refrain from providing personal information that you do not wish to be publicly available. Users are responsible for all information posted on public accounts. It is crucial to consider the risks associated with making certain information, such as your phone number, address, or exact location, publicly available.

2.4 Communications and Transactions

As part of our website activities, we may share information that includes personal and contact details necessary for transactions between buyers and sellers. This includes sending messages and making payments between users. Please be aware that the information provided in your profile and ads will be made public to other users of the Service. Take care not to include any personal data in your profile or ads that you don’t want publicly available. It’s important to understand the risks associated with making certain information publicly available, such as your phone number, address, or exact location.

2.5 Third-Party Data

When you choose to log in using Google, or Apple, we receive personal data from your account, such as your name, email, and profile image. Google has options that allow you to control what information is shared with third parties. For more information, please refer to the Facebook Permissions Reference and the Facebook Data Policy, as well as Google’s privacy policy. Additionally, if you were invited to create an account on our Service, the person who invited you may provide personal information about you.

When you decide to log in using Apple, we get Apple ID, name and email from your account. You can use Hide My Email function during signing in with Apple, and it will create and share a unique, random email address that will forward our messages to your personal email.

We collect data about how you found our Service, including your referring URL. We also collect device and location data, usage data, and advertising IDs, which help us to understand how you interact with our Service. If you make payments through the Service, you will need to provide financial account data to our third-party service providers, such as your credit card number. We gather information from your device, including language settings, IP address, time zone, device type and model, device settings, operating system, internet service provider, mobile carrier, hardware ID, and Facebook ID.

Advertising IDs:

We collect your Apple Identifier for Advertising (IDFA) or Google Advertising ID (AAID) based on your device’s operating system. These identifiers can usually be reset through your device’s settings, although we do not have control over this.

Transaction Data:

When you make payments through our service, you are required to provide financial account information, like your credit card number, to our third-party service providers. While we do not collect or store full credit card numbers, we may receive credit card-related data and details about the transaction, such as the date, time, amount, and payment method used.
